Mini Medics®

After School Clubs & Available on Request

We usually run Mini Medics for Schools or Clubs (Sports Clubs, Brownies, Cubs/Scouts etc.) however we can run it as private tuition for individual children or small groups.
This is a very basic introduction to first aid and defibrillation aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 11, but it can suit children of any age.

The course is kept at a basic level with no use of confusing terminologies and shows complete respect for the child’s ability, making it educational and practical, and instills the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.

Mini Medics Certificate

Course Duration
Younger children sessions usually 1 hour. Full Mini Medic course is 3 hours. We vary the course & level of detail dependent on the syllabus you want covered including educational, theoretical and practical teaching sessions.

When taught as an After School Club, we go into greater detail for each subject area – whilst keeping the content age appropriate, so there is 5 to 6 teachable hours of content per half term of after school club.

FREE 32 Page Fully Illustrated Book
The Mini Medics book, comprises 32 pages with hand drawn colour illustrations showing typical examples of First Aid procedures which help children to see how to help people that are injured or sick, all of which is included in the course with practical demonstration from the First Aid qualified trainer. The book includes a ‘cut-out’ certificate and a separate worksheet which adds an element of fun and educational activity for each child.
Certification
Where we run session for schools & clubs, we offer FREE named, colour printed certificates appropriate for presentation at assemblies etc.

For all other courses, the FREE Student Book includes a ‘cut-out’ Mini Medics certificate which the child can personalise themselves.

Participant Requirements
Ideally we get the best engagement from groups of 10-16 children. However, with multiple instructors, we can offer to teach greater volumes. We regularly run sessions aimed at whole classes or year groups, where we utilise school halls etc.

Although we suggest a minimum age of 7 or 8 (Year 3), as there is no formal/regulated qualification, we can offer a tailored version to smaller children around Basic Life Support and Calling the Emergency Services.

To partake in the physical elements of the full course, children are required to be physically capable of CPR, this can be physically demanding. We therefore offer variations of the course where we demonstrate this, but do not require the students to undertake this activity, where reqiured.

Location

We do not host Mini Medic courses at our own training venues. However, we do offer courses to schools, clubs & brownies/scouts groups at their own venue.
